Our Story

Aldersgate is a multigenerational, multicultural, multilingual congregation. We come from many different walks of life with a wide variety of educational backgrounds.  Many of us live on the near-eastside, although our congregation extends to Greenfield, New Palestine, Greenwood, Beech Grove, Brownsburg, and Fishers. We gather together because we love God and believe Bible study and fellowship are a necessary part of growing in our faith. We are outward focused in our concern for our neighbors, community, nation, and world.

We got our start about 60 years ago when the Indianapolis eastside was still cornfields and before I-70 was built. As the city expanded, so did our desire to meet the needs of the growing eastside community and desire to grow closer to the heart of God.

Although our footprint is large, we are right-sized to utilize the strengths and talents of everyone desiring to engage in ministry. We believe that we are at our best when everyone is working together as the body of Christ actively serving others. We have dedicated and thoughtful volunteers committed to serving with cheerfulness and passion.

What happens when we meet

Our services typically begin with worship through music and end with preaching. We provide indoor worship but are following best practices for congregational safety during this COVID-19 pandemic.

What you can expect

The atmosphere of Aldersgate is casual and comfortable and that’s reflected in how people dress too. When you enter expect to see a greeter who will welcome you and be pleased to show you around and answer any questions you may have. On Sunday mornings, our facility hosts worship services in English, Chinese and Swahili. Services in Spanish take place at 5:00 pm on Sundays in our upper sanctuary.

We offer Sunday School for all ages, and we have an active youth program.
